Biomass
Opportunity
Review.

Before you commit to a supplier, a destination market, or an export programme, establish what makes commercial sense.

MARKET CONTEXT / OCTOBER 2026

The market is changing.
Your assumptions should too.

INDONESIAN DOMESTIC DEMAND

10million
tonnes

PLN EPI’s stated biomass absorption target for 2030, compared with a 3.65 million-tonne target for 2026.

Growing domestic demand makes local supply economics an essential part of an export assessment.

CPO & EXPORT POLICY

Check the product.
Then check the rule.

Indonesia’s 2026 strategic-commodity export reforms include palm oil. For a biomass transaction, the practical question is which provisions apply to the specific product, HS classification, and shipment date.

CPO, PKS, EFB, and wood pellets need separate assessment. Export duty and export levy also need to be distinguished in the cost model.

THE DECISION THAT MATTERS

What will this biomass cost at the buyer’s delivery point—and does the transaction still work when conditions change?

Founder & Biomass and Sustainable Trade Expert

Kamil founded Natural Carbon Works to help businesses turn Indonesian biomass opportunities into practical, commercially grounded supply and export plans.

His experience spans work with Indonesian, European, and Japanese companies in the biomass industry. It includes preparing and organising palm kernel shell and wood-pellet exports, supporting international delivery, and preparing suppliers for overseas markets.

He has also been involved in certification processes (SURE, GGL, ENplus and DINplus) for palm kernel shell (PKS) exports and for wood-pellet production and exports.

His focus is connecting feedstock quality, traceability, and sustainability requirements with the commercial realities of trade—from supplier readiness and export documentation to logistics and delivered cost.
